Hold on…. It’s coming!

Some of the biggest lessons of life are learnt from the most unexpected places and people. Nathan (my 1 and half year old son) taught me yet another lesson which I would like to share with you.

Have you ever prayed for something for a long time, but nothing seems to happen or change. Aren’t there prayers you whispered to yourself, thinking ‘God is not hearing this…what’s the point?’.’ Things just don’t seem to work the way you planned…doesn’t God know that I need this and it’s going to make my life easier?’

I have had such trialing times too, but here’s the good news… ‘Delay, often is not denial’!!

Nathan has often seen us operating the AC remote. He is fascinated hearing the beep and the AC vents opening up. He often reaches for the remote but we usually don’t allow it unless he picks it up without our knowledge. The irony is that he knows which buttons to press, but at this tender age, he doesn’t know how to operate it. He usually ends up pressing the buttons turning the AC on and off multiple times, which eventually will damage it. On the other hand, we’d trust him with the remote if he were old and mature enough to handle it.

Often, the same happens to us in our relationship with God. We become so busy planning out what seems best for our life, thinking we know all the buttons to press for success, but in reality, we end up creating a mess. We keep knocking heaven’s door in prayer, expecting an answer but when the answer is delayed we come to a conclusion that ‘God is not listening to our prayers or we sometimes tend to wonder ‘Is God really there?’.

If a mother can wake up from her deep sleep hearing the weakest cry of her baby, then how can God the Father, who is watching over us all the time without sleep or slumber, not listen to our hearts cries? Sometimes God delays the answer because He wants us to mature in certain areas or else we could misuse the gift or blessing that He gives us. God answers prayer in 3 ways- YES, WAIT or NO- because He has a better plan for you. He waits for us to be molded according to His will .We read in Deuteronomy 8:5(NLT)

“Just as a parent disciplines a child, the Lord your God disciplines you for your own good.”

When things go wrong let us hold onto God’s promise in Romans 8:28(NLT)

And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.

This is the best part!

Ephesians 3:20 (The Message)

God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us.

  2. Pheba,
Wonderful message. Our God knows what is good for us and what is the appropriate time.He is a loving father, All our fame, position are due to our becoming children of God. We can ask our Father what we needs. Prayer is in fact communion and communication with God .
