Imagine yourself as an electric guitar, playing your best piece of music, but you are not plugged into an amplifier and no one is able to hear the music you produce.
I heard a preacher recently state- “Being Switched On is necessary, but being Plugged In to the right source is more important”. Wow… that’s deep! This got me thinking of all the times that I was so busy working hard, but ultimately ended up with no result or left incomplete. I’m sure we’ve all been there!
I looked into the word of God and saw a similar example. After the crucifixion of Jesus, Peter and a few other disciples were so disappointed about the death of Jesus that they kept aside all that they had witnessed over the 3 and half years with Jesus in ministry, and went back to their old occupation which was fishing. These guys were expert fisherman and yet they fished all night but caught no fish! When Jesus after his resurrection, saw them fishing, He called them and asked them to cast their nets to the right side of the boat. When they obeyed, they caught so many fish that the nets almost broke (John 21:1-11) This made them realize the power of Jesus again! When they plugged into the right source of power, the outcome was erratic!
Very often, we face life’s battles and we struggle to stay afloat using our own strength. Our battle could vary from overcoming temptations or habits, fear or insecurity etc. Ultimately when all our solutions and ideas fail, we put our head down in shame and then turn to God for help. Some of us may even succeed to some extent on our own, but we can be assured of complete victory only when we are plugged into the right source of power, which is God! The Bible says that faith the size of a mustard seed can move mountains(Matthew 17:20). If only we could key into the immense power that we hold in Jesus’ name, in faith!
