One of the most exciting days I remember from my childhood was when daddy bought our first film camera. We were so anxious to hold it and my mom was very careful NOT to give it to us as we were still quite young. We were very cautious while using the camera and made sure everyone stood properly, smiled and focused so that none of the photographic film rolls were wasted. With time and technology advancement came the digital age with the popular DSLR/HD still & 3D cameras, which offered even sharper, crisp pictures and made things simpler. We could preview our pictures instantly, delete, view, edit using photo manipulation software, upload pictures and there was no need to buy film rolls or even visit a photo lab. We prefer the latest technology cameras, because we want the best images.
The million dollar question here is, ‘do we desire for the same pace of advancement and clear vision in our spiritual life?” Some of us have had the privilege to be born and brought up in a Christian family, and few of us might be new to this relationship with Jesus. But as days go by, do we strive to know Him better? What image of Jesus are we carrying after all these years? Is our vision about Jesus getting any better or blurred?
Knowing Jesus Christ is the best experience one can ever have. Any relationship gets sweeter and stronger when people strive to know each other. In the same way, Jesus wants us to know Him better. We receive His blessings and know His Word, but do we really know Him? I love the way Apostle Paul writes in Philippians 3: 10(NLT),
I want to know Christ and the power that raised Him from the dead.
Further in verse 12-14(GNT),
I do not claim that I have already succeeded or have already become perfect. I keep striving to win the prize for which Christ Jesus has already won me to himself. Of course, my friends, I really do not think that I have already won it; the one thing I do, however, is to forget what is behind me and do my best to reach what is ahead. So I run straight toward the goal in order to win the prize, which is God’s call through Christ Jesus to the life above.
Apostle Paul who was a passionate messenger of the Gospel of Jesus, most influential missionary who had received great revelations and mysteries about Jesus writes ‘I want to know Christ’. There is a great difference in knowing about Jesus and knowing Jesus. Let us pursue Jesus today more than ever before. Let us be encouraged these days to capture a life changing vision of Jesus.
Turn your eyes upon Jesus
Look full in His wonderful face
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of His glory and grace.
We need to strengthen our relationship with Him even more ….Lord help me do it…
Amen! 🙂
Turn your eyes upon Jesus
Look full in His wonderful face
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of His glory and grace. Praise the Lord!!!
